What is the Jagratha Committee?
The Jagratha Committee is a local-level protection platform that functions vigilantly to safeguard the rights of women and children, ensure their physical, mental, and personal safety, and prevent violence, rights violations, discrimination, and social exclusion against them.
The committee provides timely intervention in situations requiring urgent action and helps women and children access available legal and social protection mechanisms.
Objectives
- Protect the rights of women and children and intervene against violence, discrimination, exploitation, injustice, and denial of rights.
- Receive complaints and ensure timely assistance and resolution through appropriate interventions.
- Forward unresolved issues to the District Jagratha Committee, Women's Commission, legal aid agencies, and other government institutions.
- Coordinate government agencies and welfare schemes related to women and child development.
- Create a safe and supportive social environment for women and children.
- Strengthen activities through community participation and social support systems.
- Ensure community monitoring and support for women and child welfare initiatives.
