Various government mechanisms are available to address complaints related to Local Self-Government Institutions. Citizens can seek remedies at different levels regarding issues such as corruption, delay in services, unfair decisions, abuse of authority, and maladministration.

⚖️ 1. Ombudsman for Local Self Government Institutions
OMBUDSMAN FOR LSGIs
A higher judicial mechanism where complaints can be filed against elected representatives or officials of local bodies regarding corruption, malpractice, abuse of power, and dereliction of duty. The institution is headed by a person holding the status of a High Court Judge.

LSGI TRIBUNAL
A legal appellate system to challenge decisions, orders, denial of licenses, or cancellation of building permits issued by the Panchayat Committee or Secretary. The tribunal headquarters is located in Thiruvananthapuram.
💻 3. Chief Minister’s Public Grievance Portal
CMO PORTAL
Citizens can directly report service delays or other difficulties in Panchayat services to the Chief Minister’s Office. Officials are responsible for resolving complaints within a stipulated time frame.
📱 4. K-SMART Citizen Portal
K-SMART CITIZEN PORTAL
An online single-window system of the Local Self Government Department. Citizens can submit complaints online and track the status related to Panchayat services without visiting the office directly.

Complaints can be directly submitted to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau regarding bribery, financial irregularities, or misuse of public funds in Panchayat offices.

For local disputes, delays in applications, or minor administrative issues, citizens should first approach the Panchayat level.

Joint Director / Deputy Director (LSGD)
If the issue is unresolved at the Panchayat level, complaints may be escalated to district-level authorities.
