Kudumbashree is the State Poverty Eradication Mission launched by the Government of Kerala in 1998 with the objective of poverty alleviation and women empowerment. Working in collaboration with Local Self Government Institutions, Kudumbashree implements various programmes aimed at the economic, social and cultural development of women. 

Kudumbashree functions through a three-tier community network comprising the Neighbourhood Group (NHG), Area Development Society (ADS) and Community Development Society (CDS). Its major objectives include promoting thrift and savings among women, encouraging self-employment enterprises, facilitating access to credit, generating livelihood opportunities and ensuring active participation in social welfare activities. 

Today, Kudumbashree has grown into one of the largest women's community networks in the world and plays a vital role in strengthening women's economic self-reliance and social leadership.
